		Q2 Swarm Event - Sunday April 29 - 5-7 PM (pacific)	(583 Reads)
Posted by phlem_wos on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 We had a successful swarm event on 4/29. Good turnout, great cooperation! Phlem's inclusion of Digital Paintball and Action Quake links did not work out too well, but we did manage to get in some good WOD action and some good old fashioned Deathmatch action as well. Good old Tasty Spleen and El Paso are still serving up members. We even visited a Norwegian server for a bit! Thanks to all who participated, including our BOD friends, and thanks to Jesse for helping co-herd the cats! We will schedule another one of these in a few weeks.

While donations are always welcome, we also manage to garner significant income from the various click-on ads found on the website and forum pages, thanks to the fabulous efforts of our Supreme Webmaster, Deacon. These links do not pay, however, unless we click on them. In order to keep WOS resources as "free" as possible, we encourage you to do your part by partipating in our new Click Daze campaign. We are designating one day a month to be a day you are particularly encouraged to Click On. All you have to do is spend a few minutes of time each month clicking on as many of the ads as you can find. No, you don't have to buy anything. And no, you will not be infected with Virii or asked to join any Secret Paramilitary Groups or sign your soul over to any religious cults. Just click on the ads! Thanks to Grass and all of the folks who helped make it happen, and to those who participated. Read about the results HERE. It should be noted that the QwazyWabbit Research Team has identified the most likely cause for lagging during the contest and has banished it from future LOX Annihilation events.

Posted by deacon on Sunday, July 30, 2006 After many months of procrastinating, I finally got around to revising the LOX documents to include all the new LOX additions QwazyWabbit has implemented over the last year or so. In addition, the new weapons and grenades by theLopez and Phlem's Off-World teleport system are also documented. The LOX documents will be evolving as the mod grows and changes are needed, but I hope to have included all the awesome new features and weapons to help get everyone updated on the new info! Posted by deacon on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 Yes you read it correctly, version 1.12.10 is coming soon :!: QwazyWabbit has been hard at work squashing bugs, making improvements and adding features to the mod we all know and love LOX! Most notably he has improved the *nightday* feature of LOX. This feature simulates the passing of time and adds a dark twist to LOX ;) More to come with the new release. In the meantime you can check out our Night&Day test server that is running the newly improved feature. WOS Day&Night LOX 64.92.161.219:27911 In addition to QW's brand spankin' new LOX version update and package makeover, we'll be seeing a new LOX Server tool that is currently being created by SkiesofBoredom and a new set of LOX Docs I've been working on that detail all the facts about LOX. 		The Complete GameCam 1.04qw Edition	(1788 Reads)
Posted by deacon on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 The complete QwazyWabbit source and binaries for Linux and Windows derived from Avi Rozen's GameCam 1.04 can be found here: http://www.windowmeister.com/lox/gamecam104qw.zip See also Avi's excellent documentation and support files here: http://www.telefragged.com/zungbang/gamecam/ My version of GameCam gets installed a little differently under Windows than Avi's original instructions call for. Avi originally had GameCam installed in \quake2\release\ and in this case the Q2 engine would load the GameCam DLL (gamex86.dll) from that folder and then load the (gamex86.dll) of the game mod from whatever mod you were running. The Linux installation calls for renaming the *.so files and to place the GameCam module into the mod folder to make the game engine load the GameCam module first and then the mod. The inconsistency to this and certain debug methods I was using caused me to change the way GameCam works. The QW version of GameCam gets named gamex86.dll and the LOX mod gets named gamex86.real.dll just like their counterparts in Linux. Read on ..

		Quake 2 Cafe' 4th Q2 Mapping Contest	(435 Reads)

The past events have produced some eye-popping, innovative new maps for Quake 2 community and this years contest will not be any different. The mapper's have until April 1st to design and build their maps for judging. Stay tuned for all the information and results on the Quake 2 Cafe' as well as the WOS websites and forums.

Our game server hosting provider, EscapedTurkey, is moving all their game server's over to much faster machines and new IP addresses which will hopefully increase performance and decrease ping overall. The new machines will be AMD Dual Core Opertons with 8 gigs of memory, compared to Dual Xeons with 2 gigs of memory. The change should take place sometime within the next couple weeks or so, but we will keep you informed of all the latest changes and the new IP address. You can also find up2date information regarding LOXophilia and other WOS servers on our message boards.

This new release is currently being tested to work out any bugs before the final package is released to the public. You can test out the new eye popping, blood boiling LOX weaponry at both LOXophilia and LOX Unlimited(tm)! Here's the post straight from the man himself, QwazyWabbit, the qwaziest wabbit in the west: I have updated the Loxophila and LOX Unlimited(tm) servers with the new LOX 1.12.8 code. There was a mixup in the code base that lead to the Linux versions having some problems. Hopefully, this is all fixed. This version will be allowed to run on these servers for a few days to get some real-world testing and feed back from you before we post a general release for everyone to use. New commands or fixes in this release:

You can download the updated files at R1CH's message board: http://www.r1ch.net/forum/index.php?topic=478.0 Other changes that were made to Q2Admin include: * Patched two critical security bugs exploitable by remote users. * Patched a security bug exploitable by users with rcon. * Improved 'whois' command so it does not crash the server. * Long lrcon commands should no longer crash the server. * Removed broken NoCheat 2.34 version checking. * Added proper GPL headers to the source code. The new version fixes some issues with the map voting feature and map lists. For all you Rocket Lovers, the Spiral Rocket Launcher has been brought back for your destructive desires. Posted by deacon on Thursday, February 03, 2005 QwazyWabbit has done it again and released yet another LOX masterpiece. Version 1.12.7 is now available in both a FULL package and an UPDATE package. The FULL package contains all the necessary files for a new installation of LOX, including the pak files, config files and documentation. The UPDATE package contains only the documentation and updated game files gamex86.dll and gamei386.so for both Windows and Linux. If you have any questions or run into problems during installation, stop by the WOS Message Board for more information or to post a question.
