 ATTENTION ALL ACTIVE Q2 MAPPERS! Dear fellow mappers, We (clan Q2C) are attempting to organize a Quake 2 mapping contest for sometime in the next month or so... The requirements are fairly open ended so we are hoping to get a variety of different mappers to produce some new and interesting work.... Although the contest is open to anyone who wants to enter it, we have decided on some general guidelines for the maps themselves.. we are looking for Quake 2 Deathmatch maps, designed for standard DM with NO grappling Hook... you can use any textures,sounds, and themes that you want... however, we are looking for original material so the map should be a NEWLY CREATED one, not just an old one that you made 2 years ago and "spruced up" a bit... - Hogwarts (or at least one or two Hogwarts buildings)
- Phantasm House (from original movie, including scary portals and mausoleum)
- Series of German Bunkers (think "Guns of Navarone")
- Esher World (e.g. http://psychoanalyst.ru/old/i/esher.jpg )
- Fortress of Solitude (from Smallville)
- Giant strand of DNA as a tower with interconnecting "platforms"
- Inside a giant refrigerator
- Star Wars Sandcrawler (see picture) (NOTE: I am building one of these for my grandsons as a play structure)
- Vampire Bill's house (from True Blood)
- Burj Kalipha (big skyscraper in Dubai) (http://www.itmweb.com/bimages/dubaitower.jpg)
- Inside an aircraft carrier
- Inside the bunker of "Lost"
- A giant version "The Lost Room" (2006 mini-series)

those would be quite fun! I was actually going to do the first 2 in the past, dark022 is the best i could do with "Crystal" theming for now, and I couldnt get a spiral to connect cleanly with Quark (DNA idea)-- stupid vertex moving bug (hence main reason for Volt:GE). However, I can you what I was able to make if you want. That last one would be hilarious tho -- sorta like the maps you would find in ut99. now, a skyscraper is an idea... hmm...
