Re: New contest for July 2010 - LoxoCaching!
I get on at least two or three times a week and try to stay there for at least a little while. But it is rather quiet, I agree. I am going to get BF going again, too, as it broke on my old machine and I have yet to properly install it on the new one I recently had built. BVJ, how's the new Bad Company version? Big fun?
Yesterday was a subdued day of rest and low energy computer repair (had a bit of a medical issue on Friday, involving catscans and such ... not too fun). Today is a visit from BtW a.k.a. daughter Alycia (WOS co-founder) and her partner and my new granddaughter!
Re: this little contest, I will do some more work on it tomorrow, and take some time for fragging, too. In brief, the contest will be a sort of scavenger hunt to find certain hidden objects amid our whole array of maps. You can even play if no one else is on the server! Some input on what "objects" to hide would be great, as I would like to build a few simple custom models for the finding.

Brief update - I am still working on the models for this. I expect to open the doors on the contest by the end of the month, and run the contest itself through the month of August.

Well, I'm not absolutely certain about "Models". Would these be weapons or just objects? In either case, it's that time of year, how about a fishing pole? Ammo would be the tackle box....

Re: Mr. BO, these would be objects. Your ideas are good ones.
Re: Daffy and Battlefield, which Battlefield do you have?
We were playing Battlefield 2 as a group for a while. But the new one, which BVJ is playing regularly and which I will be getting next month, is Battlefield Bad Company 2. BVJ described a bunch of really cool new features, including persistent damage (i.e. blown up stuff stays blown up).

Re: New contest for July 2010 - LoxoCaching!
This contest will be delayed for just a few days. I got some nasty bug bite on my face that made one of my eyes swell shut. I found that I could only do computer stuff for about 5 minutes at a time without driving me nuts. Finaly last night, after about 4 days of this crap, the swelling has mostly disappeared and I can see normally again. And now that I can see well again (and my actual vacation has actually started), my folks have come in from North Dakota for a visit (and the start of our once-every-9-years Oregon-based family reunion). So those geo-cached maps and more details will be appearing next week. Do expect some models related to fishing.

Re: New contest for July 2010 - LoxoCaching!
Update Sorry, folks, but I dropped the ball on this one. Summer was just packed with too much Family Fun and adventure (most of it of the "good adventure" kind ). But now that it's September 1st, the rain is back, and the school year is nearly started again, I will get back to this. I'll post a new update when I can get a couple of these going. If anyone has plans to retool the maplist for September, please let me know, and I will target that maplist for addition of my "hidden objects". Otherwise, I will grow a new maplist for this. - P
